A barrier is anything a wheelchair cannot get through. Steps are the obvious one, but so are a curb, a gravel path, a heavy door, a narrow gate and a slope that is simply too steep. The editor treats them all the same way.

Accessible routing is exception-driven: every way through your property counts as passable until you say otherwise. Open Accessible Routing in the left rail, stand on a point, and you get one switch per way out of it. Switch on the ones that are blocked. That is the whole feature.

Work point by point through the places you know are a problem. You never have to mark the same barrier twice: switching it on from one end covers the way back as well, unless you deliberately say the way back is fine.

A barrier lives on a way out, not on a point

Almost every real barrier sits between two points rather than on one of them. A flight of stairs between two terraces, a curb between the parking lot and the lawn: both places are perfectly usable, it is the stretch joining them that is not.

So the switch is always on the hop. Marking it means the accessible route refuses to walk that one stretch, while both points stay fully reachable by any other path. If a point has three ways in and one of them has stairs, mark that one and an accessible visitor simply arrives by one of the other two.

This is also why there is no longer a switch for blocking a whole point. A point with every way out marked is already unreachable, which is the same result with none of the confusion.

It turns itself on

There is no master switch to remember any more. Marking a barrier is the declaration. The moment your tour has one, visitors get the Accessible option in the tour header. Clear the last one and the option goes away, because a tour with nothing marked has no accessible promise to make.

This removed the most common way to get the feature wrong: marking everything carefully and then never flipping the switch, so no visitor ever saw a single one of those marks.

Check the All blocked tab before you hand a tour over. It is the complete list of what you have marked, and it is exactly the promise the tour is making on your behalf.

What visitors get

Visitors get an Accessible switch in the tour header, off by default. Switched on, every route avoids what you marked, the walking disc will not aim at a blocked way out, and tapping the photo toward one is refused with a short note instead of walking them through it.

That is true on the phone tour and the desktop tour alike, in guided routes and in free exploring. If no accessible route to a destination exists at all, the tour says so plainly instead of quietly sending someone up a flight of stairs.

A one-way barrier behaves exactly as marked: the leg you blocked is refused and the leg you left open still works, so a route can arrive one way and leave another.

Whose job the marking is

StrollPoint provides the machinery: the marking, the routing, the visitor switch. The accuracy of the markings is the tour author’s responsibility. Nobody else can walk the property and see the curb.

Not accessible (the way-out switches)

The Not accessible card lists every point connected to the one you have open, counted in both directions. Each gets a switch, and every switch starts off, meaning passable.

Switch one on and that single stretch is closed to accessible routing. Both points stay fully usable by every other path, and the change saves the moment you make it, locally and to the cloud. Switch it back off to reopen the way. The card only appears when the open point actually has connections; a point with none says so.

Prefer this over anything coarser. A staircase between two terraces, a curb between the lot and the lawn, a gravel stretch on one side of a building: mark the hop, and the accessible route arrives from the other side.

Whole points blocked (older marks)

An earlier version of this drawer let you block a whole point, which removed it from every accessible route at once. That switch is gone, because a point with every way out marked is already unreachable and having both controls made the feature contradict itself.

Any marks made that way still exist and are still honoured, so they show under Whole points blocked (older marks) on the All blocked tab. Press on a row to clear it. Nothing new can ever appear here; when the last one is cleared the section disappears for good.

When you clear one, ask what you actually meant. Usually the answer is one particular way in, and the right replacement is a single switch on that hop.

All blocked (the tour-wide list)

The All blocked tab is the live registry of everything you have marked. A barrier in both directions reads Point A ↔ Point B. A one-way barrier reads Point A → Point B (one way), naming the end that cannot leave. When nothing is marked it says so.

Press on a row to clear that barrier. It opens back up to accessible routing immediately and the change saves. It is the same action as switching it off from either point, without having to go and stand there.

Read this list before you hand a tour over: it is the accessibility promise in full. One housekeeping note, if you later delete the tags between two marked points the row stays here harmlessly; clear it to keep the list honest.

This point / All blocked

The drawer has two tabs. This point is where you work: it shows the point you currently have open and one switch for each way out of it. All blocked steps back and lists every barrier in the whole tour, wherever you marked it.

Marking always happens on the This point tab, because a barrier is a real place you have to be standing at to judge. Open a point in the Points list or click it on the map and the tab redraws for it. With no point open it says so instead of showing a stale list.

Use All blocked as the audit at the end. Read every row, ask whether each is still true, and clear anything that a ramp or a new door has fixed since.

Blocked coming back too

Turn a barrier on and a second switch appears underneath it: Blocked coming back too, already on. That is the normal case, because most barriers stop you in both directions, and it means you never mark the same stairs twice from both ends.

Switch it off for the cases where direction genuinely matters. A curb you can roll down but not up, a steep ramp that is fine descending, a door that only opens one way. With it off, travel leaving the point you have open is refused and travel back toward it stays available, and the All blocked tab shows that row as A → B (one way) so it is never ambiguous.

Stand at the top of the slope to mark it. The switch is written from where you are standing, so the point you have open is the end that cannot leave.
